The Matrix – summarized

Comic: in seven panels the movie The Matrix isummarized in a comical way. 1 Neo is asked by his computer to follow the white rabbit. 2. Neo is asked to take the red pill (wake up) or the blue pill (stay sleeping). 3. Neo now knows what the Matrix. HIs mind is blown and he's looking at a battery. 4. Neo sits with a boy who shows him a spoon and teaches him there is no spoon. 5. Neo asks Trinity if she knows about the spoon. Trinity is annoyed "YES! Quit with the spoon already". 6. Neo in the subway in the final fight with the agents. He holds his spoon and stops the bullets. The agents are scared because he figured out the secret. Last panel: Neo flies over a suburban area saying 'I am the one!'

I had to look up when The Matrix came out: 1999! What a great movie. Legendary story. And so many elements are part of our culture now.

Culture

The Neo-bullet dodge is now a dance move, taking the red pill is for finally seeing the truth (also hijacked by far right and conspiracy theorists - the directors were not amused).

And of course going down the rabbit hole - originally from Alice in Wonderland - got a whole new meaning.

Look&feel
Back when it was normal to speed up fighting scenes to make them look better, this movie slowed them down. We are used to the slick videoclip-look they used for contrast between virtual and actual reality, but back then it was new and fresh.

Comic
The coloring of this comic took me ages but I'm happy how it worked out. I've got so many sketches for classics that I'd love to make into a comic.

First I'm going to rewatch The Matrix 😀
